Changsin Yukhoe / 창신육회 / Gwangjang market, Jongno, Seoul

 
I visited Gwangjang market and this is one of my favorite markets in Seoul.
Because... I really love yukhoe!

Gwangjang market is famous for yukhoe.
 
Yukhoe(육회) means raw beef in Korean and we can taste it in many restaurants but I especially like this place because of the fast customer turnover. Freshness is the most important for yukhoe, so I prefer restaurants with many visitors. This is the perfect place to try yukhoe!

 
 
Just follow people, then you can find the place with a lot of restaurant!

 
 
There are so many yukhoe restaurants in Gwangjang market, so I don't always recommend this restaurant.
I just went there because I'm used to it, and I like having a free beef soup here.

 
 
Just take a seat where you want to sit or where you need to sit. 

 
 
I ordered a yukhoe (육회[21]) and it cost 21,000 won.
(If you are hungry, I also recommend yukhoe bibimbap(육회 비빔밥[10]).

 
 
At first they served beef soup. I like this soup.
If you want more, they will give you more if you ask. Don't be shy about asking. It's very common for Koreans.

 
 
Finally, it's yukhoe!
The yellow is egg yolk and there is some sliced pear right under the yukhoe.

 
 
You have to mix everything on the plate.

 
 
And then put it on the sesame oil + salt sauce and taste it!
You can taste very fresh yukhoe with sesame smell and pear will add sweetness and crunchiness!
When you chew it, it will melt away quickly! 

 
 
For my preference, I like to have a little bite of garlic right after yukhoe. It will add a little spice to yukhoe.

 
 
We finished the whole thing! I really enjoyed it.

 
 
I really recommend you to try yukhoe. You might feel unusual with this taste, but you will get used to and like it soon.
 
I think this is a very special experience, so I highly recommend it!
Gwangjang market is famous for yukhoe or bindaetteok(빈대떡) and some Korean deserts like hotteok(호떡) or ggwabegi(꽈배기) with CHEAP PRICE!!!
 
Don't try tteokbokki(떡볶이) or soondae(순대) like this here. This is because this place is notorious for selling food (especially Korean street food(분식)) at a high price to foreigners. Not only to foreigners but also to Koreans. I recommend you to try it near your accomodation, I mean anywhere on the street or other market. Not in Gwangjang market and tourist spots.
